Wedding, Part 2

Before I run off to Salt Lake for my sister's high school graduation (yay!) I'll finish up the wedding pictures... The others (including a very cool photo taken by guest photographer Zeth) will just have to await my return to Boston. Have a good week!

The paparzzi await the first glimpse of the newly married...

A stolen moment...

The day was iffy to start with, but turned absolutely beautiful. (As was the church.)

I love the napkins at the reception! I also love this shot. For once, my little
point and shoot allowed me to focus correctly with a shallow depth of field.

It's the end of the night, and the happy couple is still smiling for pictures!
Congratulations again Christine & Dave!!

Wedding, Part 1

Since the main reason we were in Philly this hot Memorial weekend was Christine & Dave's wedding, I thought I'd post those pictures first. These are the shots I got at the ceremony (which was lovely, look for reception next time). Unfortunately, Eric & I were running a bit late (blame it on the beer run) so we didn't get the best seats in the house! Pictures in churches are just too tricky for me. I hate using the flash, but without... well, as you can see, everything is blurry! Oh well, I still like them for the simple fact that both Dave & Christine were grinning ear to ear the entire time =)

Christine is walked up the aisle by her father.

Saying the vows (easily my favorite part of any ceremony... I always get all choked up)

Dave concentrating closely on lighting that candle!

Yay! Big smiles all around for the spankin' new husband and wife!!

Spring Cleaning

In the effort to not live in total squalor, Eric & I have been gradually cleaning the house, room-by-room. As soon as we get to the family room, this view will be gone. There is something inherently sad about a vase of dead flowers... but it suits the mood of the day. I'm big fan of the way shadows interact with objects in photographs, which is what I like about this shot.

Am off to Philly for the holiday weekend (and a wedding), so hopefully I will have some fun images to share when I get back!

Suitably Geeky

I figured it was about time to take the leap and actually let people know that I've become a sheep and joined the blogging herd. I was waiting for the right photo to kick it off, and I think these are perfect... being suitably geeky to interest the folks I know! I have finally completed The Original MacQuarium (it only took 7 years and Eric threatening to throw it away!) Seems like only yesterday Meredith and I were sitting on the porch at The Red House, filing and sawing away at the Mac Plus cases we bought for a dollar...

This Mac Plus came adorned with stickers for no extra charge!

And... the newest member of the household! Meet Budo our lovely Betta fish!!
(BTW, it is incredibly difficult getting a fish to pose for a picture!)

The Flood of '06

Which is, no joke, what they are calling this non-stop rainstorm. I thought perhaps we were in the clear... but I just looked out the window to see that it was raining again! There was a break earlier today, so I grabbed my camera and took a very wet walk through the puddles.

I love this for the reflection, and odd juxtaposition of ragged garage and trailer with the spotless minivan.

This was a much more impressive puddle yesterday, when cars would send up sprays taller
than me, but alas it was also too wet for me to stand outside and photograph!

The Rain, Rain, Rain

Amazing how the things you memorize as a child come back to you... As the rain has kept coming, I've sunk progressively deeper and deeper into my sofa. If it doesn't stop soon, I may never be able to extricate myself!

Christina Graduates

My sister is graduating from college today (and man does that make me feel old!) I'm so proud of her I could just burst. She's just such an amazing person... I'd want to be her friend even if we weren't related. Since I'm not there in person, I had to dig through the archives to find a shot of her to share. I came up with this... Love it because it personifies youth and innocence and anticipation of bright futures. Congrats sis, I love you!

Sox vs Orioles

Is there a better way to spend a beautiful, sunny, spring Sunday in Boston than at Fenway Park? I do so love watching the Sox play, especially when they stomp the other team 10-3! The peanuts, the sunshine, the good company of Kitty and Jamie, the final score, all followed up by a fantastic dinner at Sunset Cantina... This goes down as one of the best days yet!

View from our seats in the bleachers.
I really like how this image captures the sea of fans.

What you can't tell about this picture in the small form is that the little guy on one leg in the bullpen (top left) is actually Papelbon.

The obligatory self portrait. Oh my, how the freckles do appear again in the spring! I keep hoping that one year they'll fail to make their appearance ;)

Stuffed to the gills with beer and good food, content after spending a fabulous Sunday at Fenway, we get into the car to drive back to our little house in the 'burbs... and what do we get to top off the day? A truly magnificant sunset. Man, what a perfect day!!

Spring

The rains have stopped and we had one of the most glorious spring days today. We don't get many of them in New England, but this one was a real beauty! It just shouted out 'photograph those spring flowers'!!

Pear tree that was a birthday present from my mom last year.

Lovely rhododendron in backyard.

Celebrate

So very exciting news to share!! My friend just got engaged =) So happy for her that I made her pose for me. Haha... Here is a nice shot of her new shiny ring (I swear they only sparkle like that the first month!)

And here is another shot where you can actually see her (and the flowers she got too!) Congrats again Kitty!! Too happy for you & Jamie =)
