One Month

Sometimes I'm able to get the shot... And sometimes I'm not... This would be an example of a time when I really really wanted to set something up and no one was willing to work with me! Photographing children is great for candids, but quite challenging for posed pictures. That being said though, I still find these photos of them quite adorable (however, I'm willing to admit that I may be a bit baised).

Julia takes a bath

No I'm not posting totally naked photos of their first sponge baths at home (although we do have them to use to embarrass the kids when they reach high school) but these photos of Julia were just too cute not to share. (Nate was much less cooperative photographically.)

Sleep

As warned of by other parents and all parenting books, sleep is definitely high on the list of things I miss from pre-baby days. Somehow I'm just not able to 'sleep when the baby sleeps' during the day, which is odd considering I'm the Champion Napper. Now though, I think that title can be passed on to Eric, who is able to pass out for brief moments of time and awake feeling refreshed. I'm more than a little envious.

Julia poses for me while Nate and Eric snooze in the fuzzy distance.

The Sad with the Good

While Wednesday the 28th saw the fulfillment of dreams years in the making... The joy was tempered by sadness too. Annabelle has made many an appearance here on Drifty, and many of you knew her in real life as well. Three years ago we thought we were going to loose her to cancer within the month. She, however, beat all odds and we named her Survivor Kitty. The vet gave her weeks... She lived another 3 years. In those three years we experienced much hardship and she was there to help me learn to smile again and feel love. During the last months of pregnancy when I was huge and cranky and miserable, she was my constant companion, purring into my ear and letting me know everything was alright. To many people, cats are just pets, but to me, Annabelle was part of the family and as such will always have a place in my heart.

Out for a stroll

Due to a happy windfall (the liquidation of Sparklets) we were able to justify spending an insane amount of money on a really really fancy stroller. I'm totally in love with this stroller, I have to say. I couldn't wait for the first nice day so we could take it for a spin! (Of course, due to the c-section, I was only able to walk once around the block...) It was perfect though. And me being who I am, it was a well photographed outing!

Before we start out...

On the actual walk...
Look at how narrow the stroller is!
It's one of the few side-by-sides that can fit through a doorway.

Feet cuteness!

One Week

I have a whole laundry list of reasons as to why I've been so long without posting... From computer issues to time management to lack of inspiration. But really, the main reason is that I simply ran out of energy each day. See, for the last nine months I've been busy devoting all my energy to growing two healthy little humans. Finally, last Wednesday (April 28th), Eric & I were able to meet the two little ones and we both fell totally and completely head over heels in love.

While this isn't meant to be a baby blog, I'm sure that it will be fairly baby-centered for quite some time... They are my new inspiration and joy. I am in awe that they exist and doubly so that they are mine! And somewhere, I feel sure, their big sisters Rebecca & Maria, are out there, smiling with us and watching over Nathaniel James and Julia Marie.
