Photographer

Many of you know my friend Erica, who has been an 'aspiring' photog for years now. Well, let me tell you folks, this weekend she proved she can drop the adjectives and be a Photographer (with a capital p even!) She turned her apartment into a gallery and opened her doors for Brookline's Open Studios. I was in awe of the final product (which my photos do not do justice). I've known that she's talented ever since we used to take classes together, but seeing everything pulled together and so polished and complete brought tears to my eyes. I'm so proud of all the work she has done and for following her dream. Congratulations babe, you are on your way!

Erica photographs the final images to send to her mom.

Photos and some of the yummy spread Erica provided for her reception Saturday night.

Photos in the background, beautiful flowers (sent by her mom) in the foreground.

Soft coral

And now for the soft coral photos! The last one was taken on a "wall" which is something I'd never experienced until Jamaica... It is this huge rock face covered with coral that you traverse up and down as well as across. I'm not sure how deep it went, but we were at 60 ft and I couldn't see the bottom. Was very cool but a bit earie too!

Hard Coral

The reef in Jamaica wasn't as amazing as in Belize, but there was still lots of cool stuff to be seen. (And, yes Zeth, it is your turn!! Eric & I are itching to get to the Blue Hole with you guys!) Here are some of the more interesting pictures of hard coral. The first two were taken by me and the last was photographed by Eric.

Certified

So Eric & I are back home after a wonderful time in Jamaica. It was a wonderful vacation, and we are both now certified open water divers! So happy to finally be able to check that off my list of things to do. Now it's finding the time and money to go again (and again and again...)

Waiting..

I find myself searching for glimpses of spring all the time now and agree with Rachel that the green must be right around the corner. Of course, I will miss its arrival as Eric & I are jetting off to Jamaica tomorrow. (A small price to pay, however, for what should be a fabulous and memorable vacation!) Enjoy what few signs I could find in my backyard, and hopefully I'll have some lovely new images to show off next week.

The pear tree buds are close to bursting open.

The last crocus bloom, soon to be devoured by whatever animal has eaten the others.

An excited Eric and less than thrilled Annabelle join in the search for spring.

Baby Shower

I'll be a first time auntie in about 3 weeks! I can't wait to meet the little bugger. Kim has already promised me that I can be called 'auntie m' and everything is perfect. Just wished we lived closer together! Here are some pictures from the shower I co-hosted with Kim's best friend Elizabeth. A fabulous time was had by all (at least I hope so!) and many wonderful presents were heaped upon the deserving couple.

Boy or girl, Eric is determined to turn them into a 'dukie'.

A brief pause to refuel.

Surrounding by presents and love, Kim beams!

Snow in April

I know I've been neglecting this shamefully, but March is the worst month for me as a teacher. It just lasts forever! I was thrilled to change my calender over to April. However, I was less thrilled with the SNOW that I drove home in today. My crocuses are blooming!! It's not supposed to be snowing!! Come on, it's April!
